Woodpeckers

Woodpeckers class email for lockdown is Woodpecker1@woodside.gloucs.sch.uk so please get in touch if you have any queries-or just to say hello!

Hello Woodpeckers,

I hope you and your families are keeping safe and well. I have been trying to phone you all to say hello; it has been lovely to speak to some of you and hear all the lovely things you have been doing. You have been finding out about snakes, first aid, planting and growing in the garden, baking yummy cakes, biscuits and cheesecakes as well as writing letters to one another. You certainly have been keeping busy! I have tried to keep fit by following Joe Wicks and have been enjoying lovely long dog walks whilst the weather has been dry and bright.

I’ve signed us up to a TTR competition which I need your help with! I know some of you have almost reached the end of your personal challenges, so this is a great way to continue to use all your times table knowledge. At the moment I think we are competing against other schools locally so it would be amazing if Team Woodside could have a go too. It is running from 12th – 14th May from 10am to 1pm each day. It’s the Gloucestershire Rockstars Championship, which hopefully you can find in the tournaments section. It’s a new challenge for us so hopefully it will work. Please encourage your friends and siblings from years 3-6 to help us.

There are lots of activities below that have been put together to help keep you busy. These aren’t compulsory (there were a few nervous parents when I called) but they are there if you want them. I try to add to the emile challenges and mymaths weekly, so if you haven’t logged on for a while please don’t panic if there are lots of things for you to do. Just do what you want.

Our topic would have been Ancient Greece. We would have looked at where Greece is in the world (maps), food, buildings, clothes, the Olympics, democracy, Greek gods and lots of work on Greek myths and legends. You are welcome to do your own research if you’d like.

Please do get in touch if there is anything you need or would like help with. I’d love to see what you’ve all been up to.

Best wishes,

Mrs Cotterell
